Demo Debris Facility Acceptable Debris and Unacceptable Wastes
Acceptable
Debris:
Examples of acceptable demolition debris are as follows:
a) Wallboard
b) Asphalt shingles
c) Furniture
d) Ropes
e) Insulation
f) Carpeting
g) Tree limbs
h) Brush.
i) Leaves
j) Grass
k) Lumber
l) Wood chips
m) Wood shavings
n) Plywood
o) Concrete form work
p) Saw dust
(Note) lumber, tree limbs, and branches shall be cut into lengths not to exceed (8) eight feet.
Unacceptable Wastes:
Unacceptable wastes are materials not considered acceptable, reclaimable, or specially approved by the Town of South Thomaston for disposal at the Demolition Debris Facility.
The following is a list of unacceptable wastes:
a) Junked or abandoned vehicles
b) Asbestos and asbestos containing wastes
c) Contaminated soils
d) Medical and other potentially infectious or pathogenic wastes
e) Sand blast grit
f) Liquid wastes
g) Water, wastewater, paper mill or tannery sledges
h) Dredge soils
i) Inert fill
j) Agricultural wastes
k) Septage
l) Industrial process wastes
m) Hazardous or special wastes including: fluorescent tubes, thermometers, mercury switches, and explosives.
n) Appliances such as: refrigerators, freezers, white goods, water heaters, stoves, washers, dryers, or any enameled appliances.
o) Metals such as: iron, steel, aluminum, copper, brass, sheet metal, wire, cable, and cable fencing.
p) TVS and CRTS.
q) Stumps
r) Other wastes designated by the Town of South Thomaston or the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
s) Waste that could cause transportation problems.
